I’m going to share my experience with gynecomastia. I will first tell how I suffered from it and how I was able to get rid of it.

I noticed that my chest was enlarging when I was around 15 years old. I’m 27 now and since then, I have suffered from shame and had always been conscious about it. I couldn’t do the usual stuff that my friends used to do. I never wanted to go swimming or to take off my shirt in front of others. I would try to hide it by wearing thick clothes. I exercised, lifted weights, and took pills to improve the condition but nothing worked. I started reading online and that was the first time I learned that it was a disorder and it had a name, after reading a lot online I decided to see what my options were, I knew that surgery was an option and was thinking of having it. I did more research online to find doctors that did this kind of surgery.

I selected five doctors and Dr. Richard Joseph was one of them. I talked to his office representative (Toula) via email and she suggested I come in for a consultation. Dr. Joseph was very knowledgeable and communicated what was needed and how it would be done in an excellent way. I was a bit apprehensive about having surgery before talking to him, but felt very comfortable after the consultation, after talking to him, I felt I was in good hands. I got the surgery date scheduled and I liked the way everything was organized and the staff at his office is really friendly, patient and helpful. Surgery went very well. One more thing I liked about my experience with Dr. Joseph is the efficiency and professionalism from him, the people who were involved in the surgery. There were no unknowns, what they told me, was how it happened. I liked it a lot and that made things simpler and easier, since there were no surprises. That usually happens only when you are dealing with somebody who knows what they are doing. I was in recovery for two days and returned to work on the third day. The pain was not as bad as I thought it would be. I noticed excellent results in as early as a week. I had to wear a garment for about six weeks.

I am now 5 months post-op, and my chest is flatter than it has been in several years, I can wear normal fitting shirts, take off my shirt in public etc. but the best part is, and this is very important, I don’t worry or think about it at all. A worry which bothered me for years and years is gone. I am writing this to let everyone out there who is considering to have plastic surgery done what an incredible doctor Dr. Joseph is. I would not look any further. Here is my story:

Three years ago I had breast augmentation done and was still not portioned the way I wanted to be, because of the curve in my spine it is literally shaped like an “S” which makes my case a little more difficult. I thought to seek another physician. I remembered receiving something in the mail about Dr. Richard Joseph and what procedures he offered and his website address. So, I went to the website and was impressed at that then I called the office to make a consultation appointment. That was one of the best decisions I have made in my life.

Dr. Joseph sat down with me for a long time. I did not feel rushed. He answered all of my questions made me feel comfortable. I was skeptical at first because I had been through a bad experience in the past. All I can say is that Dr. Joseph and his staff were extremely nice they went above and beyond their job duties to make me feel comfortable.

I am so happy with my breasts now. I do not have to wear padded bras anymore. Three years after my surgery I was still wearing padded bras to try and even myself out. Dr. Joseph has made them proportioned now and beautiful. I also had liposuction done on my stomach, lower back inner and outer thighs. The most discomfort was the first two days and that was mainly from the lipo but not hardly any discomfort at all from my breast surgery. Since I had it done three years ago I think my skin was stretched out already. My body is slimmer now and it is incredible how my body is contoured now. When I wear clothes I can tell the difference that will only improve as the swelling goes down.

All I can say is that Dr. Joseph and his staff are incredible people. He puts everything he has into his surgery. I am willing to talk to anyone who will be having upcoming surgery. Hello, My name is Vernice. I am a liposuction patient of Dr. Joseph. I have wanted to be a patient of Dr. Joseph since 1998 when a friend of mine had the surgery. And, within a few months, she had the beautiful body that I also wanted. Growing up, my average weight had always been around 135 pounds. Marriage, giving birth, and a divorce all contributed to a increasingly negative self-image. December 11, 2007 was the first day I met the good doctor and Tula. They gave me hope. I began to see that having the surgery was going to be of great benefit to me. I no longer had a fear of it. The next time I saw the doctor was December 18, 2007 for a pre-op. The surgery was scheduled for January 11, 2008. As the big day arrived, it was only met with frustration. High blood pressure had made the surgery prohibitive, but this was to be expected under the circumstances. The doctor’s concern was appropriate, and the surgery was rescheduled. The doctor and anesthesiologist weren’t only concerned about removing the fat, but they were concerned about my health, in general. They rescheduled the surgery. With the help of medication and the attentiveness of the doctor and his staff, my health improved sufficiently to proceed with the surgery.

The day of the surgery was January 30, 2008 Dr. Joseph took 9 quarts of fat from my upper stomach, lower stomach, and love handle area. I saw a difference in my stomach within two weeks When it was time to change my first garment , the upper part of my stomach was completely flat and my waist had curves I never had before. I ran into a little problem: I had a large open wound that I caused, and the doctor and I thought I had to go into the hospital for care. But, we decided against a hospital stay, and the doctor took good care of me. It’s extremely important that you listen to what the doctor has to say and do what he tells you to do, if you want good results. Over a few months, my wound began to close up. The weight loss goal that the doctor gave me was 50 pounds. Wow! That’s impossible, I thought! As the months began to go by, it seemed that it was possible to lose the weight.

Before the surgery, I thought I needed encouragement (which I didn’t have) to know that I could do it. Every time I started on my weight loss journey, I just gave up. With some people, weight determines how we feel about ourselves. My self-esteem has improved greatly since the surgery. I love what I see and how I feel. Dr. Joseph and the surgery changed my whole outlook on life. Thank godI have another chance to succeed. If anyone decides to have this type of surgery, remember that you can’t concern yourself about what everybody else is saying or thinking. It has to be a choice of your own, not theirs.

This letter is pertaining to the life changing decision I decided to go through with and the doctor that I owe great thanks to. Since I can remember I had low self-esteem because of one feature on my body. This wasn’t just a flaw that someone becomes self-conscious with and can joke and laugh about. I’m not going to lie, I felt a little sick and discomfort after the surgery, but that was honestly only for the first day. Sometimes it is important to trust another person’s expertise. That is exactly what happened when I met Dr. Joseph.
